The two rooms

Playtime Casino Kelowna stands at 1300 Water Street, downtown on Okanagan Lake. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited runs it. The casino sits in the Grand Okanagan Lakefront Resort and Conference Centre. Its floor holds 16 live table games and more than 400 slot games.

Chances Casino Kelowna, at 1585 Springfield Road, dates from 2002. Goldwing Investments (Saskatoon) Ltd operates it as Chances Kelowna Gaming & Entertainment. Its founder is Stan Walt. It has 14 live table games, nearly 400 slots and a Sportsbook Lounge on the second floor. The two rooms are 3 km apart in a straight line, and the route by road is longer.

Until 2018 the site was Lake City Casino, which ran there for almost 19 years. Gateway rebranded it as Playtime Casino Kelowna, with a grand opening on March 1, 2018. A $3.6 million renovation added MATCH Eatery & Public House and a new poker room. Table games moved to the top floor, next to MATCH. The 16 tables open at noon Monday to Thursday and at 11 am Friday to Sunday, then run to close.

Poker means two No Limit Texas Hold'em tables, with $1-3 and $2-5 blinds, open daily from 4 pm to close. Seat reservations start at 11 am at 250-860-9467. The Arcade Bar, at the centre of the floor, opens at 4 pm daily and runs to close; MATCH publishes no hours. Parking is free for guests in the GREEN zone of the covered parkade.

Chances dates from 2002 and began as a bingo and community gaming centre. Slots arrived in 2005, followed later by off-track betting, live tables, a poker room and food and drink. Bingo ended in August 2022. The property covers 42,000 square feet, with a team of more than 200 employees.

Its poker room has 6 tables, with No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha cash games and tournaments daily. Players register through the Poker Atlas app. Sports bettors use the Sportsbook Lounge on the second floor, with its 25-foot screen, while race bettors use the Derby Den. DICE Kitchen + Bar sits upstairs beside the lounge, and Chips Café serves snacks and full dishes. Parking is free in the front lot, with EV charging.

    Online play in B.C.

PlayNow.com is run by BCLC and is the province's own online gambling site. The Independent Gambling Control Office, B.C.'s gambling regulator, states that PlayNow.com is the only regulated commercial online gambling website permitted in B.C. Other online gambling sites that accept B.C. players operate illegally in the province. Chances Casino Kelowna has not launched an online casino and warns about scam sites that use its name.

The Ad links on this guide's home page go to a private online casino partner. That partner is not PlayNow.com, and it pays the guide a commission. It has no connection with Playtime or Chances, and it can change.

    Where to find help

    • Gambling Support BC answers at 1-888-795-6111 at any hour, at no cost, and calls stay private.
    • Game Break, BCLC's voluntary self-exclusion program, offers terms of 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 3 years, which cannot be changed once chosen.
    • A GameSense Advisor is available in every B.C. casino, and Chances also has an on-site GameSense information centre.
